The Regional Development Agency Bačka successfully carried out a study visit to the German cities of Ulm, Neu-Ulm and Augsburg on 23–24 June 2026 as part of the ReInd-BBG project.
Representatives of the project partners participated in the visit with the aim of exchanging knowledge, experiences and good practices in the fields of regional development and brownfield regeneration.
Exchange of Knowledge and Good Practices
During the two-day programme, participants had the opportunity to explore examples of good practice in:
- regional economic development,
- brownfield regeneration,
- innovation ecosystem development,
- cooperation between public institutions, businesses and research organisations.
Visit to Ulm and Neu-Ulm
On the first day of the study visit, meetings were held with representatives of the Department for Economic Development of the City of Ulm, where participants were introduced to investment attraction strategies and brownfield regeneration policies.
The delegation also visited the Theaterviertel development area and explored urban regeneration projects in Neu-Ulm, including the successful transformation of the former Wiley military complex into a modern multifunctional urban district.
Innovation Ecosystem in Augsburg
On the second day, the partners visited Augsburg, where they learned about regional economic development strategies implemented by Regio Augsburg Wirtschaft GmbH.
A highlight of the programme was the visit to Augsburg Innovation Park, one of the region’s leading innovation hubs, where research institutions, universities, technology companies and development organisations collaborate successfully.
Strengthening International Cooperation
The study visit provided a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences, gain insight into successful models of industrial and urban development, and further strengthen cooperation among the project partners.
The exchange of experiences and inspiring discussions contributed to improving the implementation of project activities and to developing sustainable solutions for brownfield regeneration across the partner regions.
