BIOPRO Regions Project Info Day Held in Novi Sad

An Info Day dedicated to the BIOPRO Regions project was held at the Eđšeg Cultural Station in Novi Sad on 21 October 2026. The aim of the event was to introduce the project to a wider audience and create a space for exchanging experiences, as well as exploring opportunities to apply examples of good practice in the local and regional context.

The Info Day was attended by representatives of the public, private and civil sectors, including representatives of cities and municipalities, businesses—producers and business support providers—as well as organisations and institutions for which the project’s theme, namely sustainable production and consumption, is relevant. Participants also included a business association and institutions in the fields of innovation and science.

The event was held in a hybrid format to enable participation by those who were unable to attend in person for organisational and logistical reasons. Nine participants attended at the Eđšeg Cultural Station, while 13 participants joined online.

During the Info Day, the BIOPRO Regions project, its activities and objectives were presented, with a particular focus on exchanging experiences between European regions and identifying good practices that can contribute to more sustainable production and consumption, the development of local products and stronger connections between different stakeholders in the economy.

A dedicated part of the event focused on exploring opportunities to transfer and apply examples of good practice identified within the project. Discussions addressed how relevant solutions could be applied to improve the Development Plan of the Municipality of Bečej, which is the policy instrument at the centre of the project.

Another important outcome of the Info Day was the recognition of opportunities to apply the experiences and solutions exchanged through the project beyond the scope of the Development Plan of the Municipality of Bečej. The participation of representatives from different sectors made it possible to consider the potential for a broader application of good practices. This further highlighted the importance of cross-sector cooperation and connecting stakeholders who can contribute to the region’s more sustainable development.

The BIOPRO Regions project is implemented under the Interreg Europe programme and brings together partners from eight European countries. Its aim is to strengthen the capacity of local and regional stakeholders to support more sustainable production and consumption through the exchange of good practices, knowledge building and the improvement of policies and strategies. Particular attention is paid to sustainable food production, processing, distribution and consumption, as well as strengthening the role of local and regional products in sustainable development.

The Info Day helped participants become more familiar with the project’s objectives and opportunities, as well as understand how the results of international cooperation can be transferred into local and regional practice. Continued cooperation and knowledge exchange among the stakeholders involved represent an important step towards ensuring that the good practices identified do not remain merely examples from other European regions, but become a basis for concrete improvements in development policies and the work of organisations across Bačka.
