SportsCom: Project Meeting and Study Visit in Athens

On February 3 and 4, 2026, a transnational meeting of the SportsCom project was held in Athens, hosted by the Regional Development Fund of Attica, bringing together partners from across Europe to exchange knowledge and collaborate on the role of community sport in strengthening health resilience.

During the meeting, partners participated in thematic sessions and roundtable discussions focused on developing social skills through community sport, the inclusion of vulnerable groups, and the exchange of good practices among regions. Study visits were also organized to key public sports spaces in Athens, including the National Garden, Fokianos Sports Center, and the Panathenaic Stadium, presenting practical examples that connect public space, physical activity, and social cohesion within regional policies.

The SportsCom project aims to support regions in using inclusive and intergenerational community sport as a tool for building healthier, more resilient, and cohesive communities, while empowering decision-makers and local stakeholders to improve regional policies.
