Second URBANFLOODS Project Partner Meeting Held in Rijeka, Croatia

Date of creation 22.04.2025.

As part of the URBANFLOODS project, the second partner meeting was held on April 8–9, 2025, in Rijeka, Croatia. The meeting was attended by eleven organizations from eight countries within the Adriatic-Ionian region.

The main goal of the meeting was to recap the activities already implemented and organize the implementation of upcoming ones within the project framework. Accordingly, each project partner presented a river flow selected as a pilot site where solutions developed within the project will be applied, with the aim of improving flood prevention and protection. In addition, representatives from each participating country presented their national legislative frameworks in the field of flood management, which will serve as the basis for developing joint recommendations to enhance prevention and protection across the Adriatic-Ionian region.

During the visit to the city of Rijeka, project partners had the opportunity to visit the source of the Rječina River, which was selected as the pilot site in Croatia, one of the project’s participating countries.

At the end of the meeting, further steps were agreed upon to ensure that the defined activities and goals of the URBANFLOODS project are implemented and achieved within the planned time frame and quality standards.

The URBANFLOODS project is co-financed under the IPA ADRION First Call for Proposals, within the 2021–2027 programming period. It supports a greener and more climate-resilient Adriatic-Ionian region through climate change adaptation and disaster risk prevention, using ecosystem-based approaches. The project runs from 1 September 2024 to 31 August 2027, with a total budget of EUR 1,747,583.17, of which EUR 1,485,445.68 is co-financed by Interreg funds.
