Members of the PRIMES project team from RRA Bačka, co-financed through the Interreg ADRION Program of the European Union, participated in a meeting held on March 25-26 in Čakovec, Croatia. The meeting was organized by the project partner REDEA (Public Institution for the Development of Međimurje County) and gathered representatives of all partner organizations from Italy, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Montenegro, and Serbia. The focus was on developing and implementing guidelines for drought risk management, sharing experiences, presenting progress, and planning the next steps.

During the meeting, special attention was given to the presentation and refinement of the PRIMES guidelines, a key tool for enhancing local communities’ ability to prepare for and respond to drought risks. Representatives of partner organizations discussed various aspects of the guidelines, including methodological approaches, water management planning, and community engagement at the local level.

A particular emphasis was placed on stakeholder mapping, the formation of local drought management committees, risk assessment, and community preparedness. Best practices in drought management at the municipal level were also discussed, with partners sharing their experiences and successful projects in this field.

The meeting concluded with a visit to the Međimurje Water Supply Company, which showcased examples of good practices in water management and sustainable resource use. This gathering was crucial for strengthening cooperation among partners, with the ultimate goal of improving conditions for drought prevention and mitigation in the region.

The PRIMES project continues to contribute to the development of sustainable risk management solutions by providing tools and guidelines for effective community protection against natural disasters.
