Pathways to empowering energy communities and alleviating energy poverty in Central Eastern Europe - a case study approach - energy.eu

The Regional Development Agency has launched the energi.eu project, which will focus on strengthening energy communities and reducing energy poverty in Central and Eastern Europe. The project is supported by the Interreg Danube Region Programme – EUSDR Seed Money Facility Programme, with a total value of EUR 124,705.

The main objective of the project is to develop a new model of energy communities through a multidisciplinary approach and evidence-based case analysis. This framework will enable the connection of citizens, markets, regulations and technologies, providing the means for economically, socially and environmentally sustainable development. The project will also encourage the establishment of energy communities within the current administrative frameworks with recommendations for improving regulation.

The project leader is InnoGeo Research and Service Nonprofit Ltd from Hungary, while the project partners are SLOVGEOTHERM a.s. (Slovakia), Regional Development Agency Bačka doo Novi Sad (Serbia) and Environmental Resource Center (Bosnia and Herzegovina).

The timeframe for project implementation is 12 months (September 1, 2024 – August 31, 2025).
